VIJAY PAYS A WHOPPING SUM FOR VISWAROOPAM!

Vijay TV is said to have paid a whopping 10 crores for the satellite rights of Viswaroopam. Though all the leading channels were in fray to lay their hands on the satellite rights of this Kamal Haasan starrer which has been directed by him as well, it was Vijay which has finally emerged victorious.

Trade sources say that a part payment was made in cash while the remaining is arranged to be made after the advertisement deals are signed.

Viswaroopam stars Kamal, Pooja Kumar, and Andrea in the lead roles. The film is expected to hit the screens in August.

Kamal Haasan met the press today morning at his Eldams Road office in Chennai. He really turned emotional as he said that he had pledged all his property including his house to get funds for the making of Vishwaroopam, which has apparently been made on a budget of close to 95 crores. If the movie fails to release soon, he may be forced to forego the house as the money lenders have already been pressurizing him for the past two months.

He said that he may be led into leaving the country as he wishes to be a secular man. He didn’t blame any particular religion but hinted that he was fed up at being played around in a dirty political game.

On a sad note he said that he didn’t know if he would be able to hold another press meet at this house if the court ruling goes against his movie today. He also wondered how his movie can make a mockery of the country’s unity.

The Madras High Court is set to hear the Tamil Nadu Government’s appeal against the court’s interim relief to Vishwaroopam at 2 15 pm today.

Vijay TV bags 'Kadal' & 'Thuppakki' satellite rights

Mani Ratnam's Kadal the launch film of Gautham Karthik and Thulasi Nair is currently red hot in the market.

The trailer of the film has given great hope to the trade about its success.

Meanwhile the producer of Kadal , Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) who has brought all rights of the film from Madras Talkies has sold the satellite rights to Vijay TV for a whopping amount.

GFC has sold Kadal to the channel as a package deal along with Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Thuppakki, which they had jointly produced with Kalaipuli Thanu.

Kadal is confirmed to release on February 1 worldwide.

Vijay TV has bagged the television rights of Mani Ratnam's Kadal. The television channel had signed a two-film deal with Gemini Film Circuit, and Kadal and Vijay's blockbuster Thuppakki have been acquired by the channel in the package deal.

The price of television rights has not been revealed and it is believed that Vijay TV could have paid a huge amount, as there were good response for both Vijay's Thuppakki and Kadal. It has to be noted that in the recent years, the television channel has started bagging biggies, and last year's Nanban was one among them.

Kadal will hit the screens on February 1 worldwide in Tamil and Telugu versions. It marks the debut of Gautham, the son of actor Karthik, and Thulasi Nair, the daughter of actress Radha. Arjun Sarja, Arvind Swamy and Lakshmi Manchu are in important roles. The movie is all about good versus evil. It narrates the story of an individual caught between sin and redemption.

The audio composed by Oscar Award winner has impressed the audience and has created more hype on Kadal. The film has seven songs and 'Adiye', 'Nenjukkulle', 'Moongil Thottam' and 'Anbin Vaasale' have got thumbs up from Tamil audience.
