IT’S oh-oh-heaven for James Bond fans as the secret agent gets his own channel on Sky.
From Sean Connery and Roger Moore to Pierce Brosnan and current 007 Daniel Craig, all 22 Bond movies will be available under one roof for the first time from October.
Addicts will be able to relive every moment on Sky Movies 007 HD, from Dr No’s defining name check “Bond, James Bond”, starring Connery, to Craig’s iconic Speedo scene in Casino Royale.
Free to Sky Movies subscribers, super spy Bond will also leave fans shaken and stirred on channel Sky Go and the broadcaster’s on-demand service.
Sky is launching a dedicated James Bond channel throughout October after it picked up the rights to all 22 films.
The Sky Movies 007 HD channel featuring the MGM Studios’ films will be available as part of the Sky Movies package on TV, as well as via IPTV services Sky Go and Now TV.
It coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Ian Fleming franchise, which launched with Dr No on 5 October 1962. The entire library of films, acquired by Sky in April having previously aired on ITV for 35 years, will be broadcast advert-free.
The channel, which will broadcast 24 hours a day from October 5th until November 4th, will also show a number of Bond-related programmes. This sees an end to ITV’s 38-year hold on the Bond franchise, which it has enjoyed since 1974.
As part of the deal the 23rd film in the franchise, Skyfall, will be available to view on Sky Movies next year following its cinematic release.
Sky Movies director Ian Lewis said: “The Bond movies are a very special franchise and we want to ensure that our customers will be able to experience it in a way they’ve never been able to before, and so we’re going to create a dedicated channel SKY MOVIES 007 HD devoted entirely to James Bond showing the entire catalogue of films and loads of extra material.”
