Happy Krishna Jayanthi
Krishna Jayanthi is round the corner – September 2nd to be precise (many celebrate it on September 1st). This Indian (Hindu) festival is celebrated with lots of pomp and grandeur every year in our household. Its the celebration of birth of God Krishna who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

This day� occurs on Ashtami or 8th moon phase that coincides with the Rohini star in the Avani month. The festival is also known as Krishnashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, and Sree Jayanthi. During this day, Krishna's statue is placed in a swing and many sumptuous food dishes, in particular kheer and kolukattai, are prepared to welcome him. It is believed that lord Krishna will visit his devotees' houses on this day.
