Sun TV inks deal with Arasu Cable, stock up 5.33% 

The Sun TV Network Ltd stock price rose by 5.33 per cent to Rs 272.70 a share after the company has said that it has concluded an agreement with Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Ltd., an undertaking owned by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The state-run Corporation is engaged in the business of providing signals to Cable Operators in the State of Tamil Nadu.

“This agreement will enable total availability of the Company's channels on all cable TV distribution systems run by Arasu Cable across the state of Tamil Nadu with immediate effect,” said the company's announcement.

“We have already enjoys a dominant market share in terms of viewership ratings and the new arrangement will facilitate in further enhancing the competitive positioning of the Company's programmes. The Company will also now start earning additional subscription revenues from Tamil Nadu,” Sun TV said in the announcement.

Sun TV has bagged the satellite rights of Arun Vijay's forthcoming 'Thadaiyara Thaakka' for an undisclosed huge sum. Also joining the TT team is Media One, producer of Rajini starrer 'Kochadaiyaan'. They are releasing the film worldwide.

Two big names being associated with the film has made the movie quite hot in the trade. 'Thadaiyara Thaakka' is being produced by Feather Touch Entertainments.

Starring Arun Vijay and Mamta Mohandas, the movie is helmed by Magizh Thirumeni of 'Mundhinam Parthene' fame. It has music by Thaman S who has delivered promising tracks including a kuthu number that has already topped the charts.

The film is entirely shot in Chennai and has several scenes canned during the nights, due to the script that demands some thrilling high voltage action scenes.

The movie's Tamil version, titled "Naan Ee" has bagged a whopping Rs 3.35 Crores in satellite rights by Sun TV. This marks a new record and the highest price for any satellite rights of a film made by a Telugu director. This was after "Naan Ee'"s Tamil distribution rights were sold to PVP Cinema for Rs 5 crores. Both the Telugu and Tamil versions ("Eega" and "Naan Ee") were simultaneously shot. Rajamouli's "Magadheera" was already dubbed in Tamil, but "Eega" will be his maiden attempt in Tamil Market
