Uttama Villain and Vishwaroopam 2 are his movies, which are getting ready to hit the screens. The latter is a sequel to his Vishwaroopam and the post-production works are yet to be completed. There were confusions on which film will see the light of the day first. As per the latest reports, Uttama Villain will release first and Vishwaroopam 2 will be delayed for some time. Kamal Hassan has no plans to start the post-production works of the delayed movie. It is only after the completion of his Drishyam remake, the actor will begin the works on Vishwaroopam 2.

Uttama Villain is directed by Ramesh Aravind and jointly produced N Lingusamy and Kamal Hassan. And Vishwaroopam is a spy-thriller directed by Kamal Hassan and produced by Aascar Ravichandran.

New Delhi, Aug 25: The 'Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana', an ambitious financial inclusion scheme under which the government intends to provide every household with a bank account and insurance cover, will be launched on August 28 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The scheme, about which Modi made the announcement in his Independence Day speech, will be launched across the country simultaneously amid his emphasis that it lies at the core of "our development philosophy of 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas'". As a first step, under the scheme, every account holder will get a 'RuPay' debit card with a Rs one lakh accident cover. "As we go along, they will be covered by insurance and pension products," the Prime Minister said today while announcing the decision about the launch. Modi, who has sent an email to all bank officers, said bank account for each household is a "national priority" and they should try their best to ensure that no one is left without a bank account. Describing the task as "gigantic," he said, "We need to enroll over 7 crore households and open their accounts. This is a national priority and we must rise to meet this challenge. There is an urgency to this exercise as all other development activities are hindered by this single disability. I am sure we will overcome this situation collectively."

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana — national mission for financial inclusion — will be launched in 76 centres across the country on August 28.

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the scheme in Delhi, the functions at the state capitals and district headquarters will be presided over by cabinet ministers, chief ministers in BJP-ruled states and senior officials of the government of India.

On the first day, a target of one crore bank accounts has been set for the nationalised banks which are a part of the scheme.

The spadework for opening accounts like collection of KYC information has already been finished.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was one of the big announcements in Modi’s Independence Day speech. The aim of the mission, the PM had said was to ensure that every household has at least one bank account.

An estimated 7.5 crore accounts will have to be opened to achieve that target. He has written an email to all bank officers urging them to rise to the occasion and fulfil this “national challenge”.

Under the scheme, every account holder gets a RuPay debit card with a Rs 1 lakh accident cover.

A senor official of the finance ministry explained: “The main launch function will be in Delhi. However there will be 76 simultaneous functions across the country for which cabinet ministers and officers are being deputed. In addition, there will be over 60,000 enrolment camps in rural areas that will be managed by the local branches of the banks. The idea is to generate so much buzz on the first day at the local level that people start demanding an account.”

Among the cities that will host their own launch functions are Dehradun, Port Blair, Guwahati, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Vizag, Panjim, Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Surat, Bharuch, Bilaspur, Raipur etc.

Banks which are part of the scheme have been instructed to finish the formalities for the opening of the new accounts before the launch.

Modi’s speech from Delhi will be directly transmitted to all 76 centres and shown on a big screen.

Once the speech is over, ministers and officials will take over at the local and regional functions.

There will be symbolic distribution of cheque books to a few of the new account holders in each place.

'Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were planning to get married': BCCI

Bangalore, Aug 22: Virat Kohli and his bollywood actress girlfriend Anushka Sharma "were planning to get married" and hence granted permission to stay together in England, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Kohli and his team-mates, who are under fire for performing poorly in the recently concluded Test series against England, were blamed for flop show due to the presence of wives and girlfriends by BCCI. Kohli too had a very poor Test series with just 134 runs in 10 innings.

Now, when questions are raised why Kohli was given permission to have his girlfriend Anushka during the Test series in England, a BCCI official has claimed they gave the green signal as they were told that the duo will "marry" soon.

"The team management was slightly taken aback when the BCCI approved Kohli's plea of letting Anushka stay with him. But they were told there was no reason to worry as the two were planning to get married. And this isn't the first time such a thing was happening.

A captain's girlfriend had travelled with the team in the past as well," an unnamed BCCI official told "Mail Today" yesterday (August 21). The official also said how Kohli would keep Anushka's presence in England away from the media. He would "handle the media attention", the official said.

"When the management enquired on how to handle the media if they questioned her presence with the vice-captain, they were told that Kohli can handle the media attention and wouldn't let the cat out of the bag," he said.

"Unlike football, Test cricket is played for eight hours. And when the mind is on picking and dropping friends, the result will be visible on the field itself. Off-field activities definitely play on the mind," he added.

Government Stops Teleshopping Advertisements that Violate ASCI Code

MUMBAI: In a recent development, the Ministry of
Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has ordered
broadcasters not to air advertisements that have
been found in violation of the Advertising
Standards Council of India’s (ASCI) code and not
complying with the decision of its Consumer
Complaints Council (CCC). While deliberating on
the complaints received in ASCI, the CCC
observed that many of the teleshopping
advertisements made unsubstantiated claims &
violated the provision of code for self-regulation
as well as provisions under Drug & Magic
Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act,
1954. MIB has in its Advisory compiled a list of
these ads and asked broadcasters not to carry
them in their respective channels and to ensure
strict compliance of the advertising code in the
Cable Television Networks Act (CTN).
The advisory sent by MIB states that non-
compliance of ASCI’s code of self-regulation is a
violation of rule 7 (9) of the Advertising Code
contained in the CTN Rules. The CTN code and
rules state that ‘no advertisement which violates
the code of self-regulation in advertising, as
adopted by ASCI for public exhibition in India,
from time to time, shall be carried in the cable
service’. Therefore, the ASCI decisions are not
just bound for compliance by advertisers but also
by TV channels.
According to Partha Rakshit, Chairman, ASCI,
“This is another feather in the cap of ASCI, in its
efforts to make advertising more responsible. We
were finding that some advertisers on TV
channels, especially Tele Shopping Networks,
were not complying with the ASCI decisions. We
submitted the list to the Inter Ministerial
Committee (IMC) of the MIB for their
consideration. Based on that, IMC observed that
any violation of ASCI code also violates the
Advertising Code enshrined in the CTN Act and its
rules. In short, IMC has directed that
advertisements found to violate the ASCI code
cannot be carried on TV channels.”

which violated the ASCI code in terms of their
advertising and in terms of their advertisers not
complying with the ASCI’s decision to uphold the
